Bintulu MP urges Sarawakians to cooperate with authorities to curb Covid-19

KUCHING, Mar 21: Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing called for Sarawakian to play their part in helping authorities stop the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

Tiong in a statement said the outbreak of the pandemic disease in Malaysia was undoubtedly getting worse and the public naturally felt anxious and stressed with panic.

ā€œSarawakians during this critical period need to cooperate and get tested if they have come into contact with confirmed patients. All of us during this critical period need to cooperate and get tested if you have come into contact with confirmed patients. Go to the hospital, and get tested.

ā€œDo it for the sake of our families and friends and letā€™s not be complacent. It could happen to you and anyone. The cost of the virus spreading in our community is too great.

ā€œBut please, at this critical period, we all must keep calm, adhere to the governmentā€™s advice and directives and fully cooperate,ā€ he said.

Tiong also pointed that adhering to the that the 14-day restricted movement order is a must, but unfortunately, there are still people who refuse to comply with the order and continue with their activities outside their homes.

He said they had even openly defied enforcement personnel and acted rude to them, without considering their health and that of others.

ā€œThis irresponsible behavior will place greater stress on enforcement and healthcare personnel who are doing their best to safeguard all of us.

ā€œPlease. Stay at home and do not spread any fake or unverified information. This is the best we can do for all of us,ā€ he said.

Meanwhile, Tiong who is also the President of Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president said that a well-known Nasi Lemak seller in Bintulu had been diagnosed with Covid-19 and there was a possibility that the customers who frequent the stall might be infected.

Tiong said that he would also be reminding the factories in the Tanjung Kidurong industrial area to get their employees tested for Covid-19 as soon as possible, especially those who had frequent the Nasi Lemak stall.
