KUCHING, March 26: Bintulu topped the list of daily Covid-19 infections with 46 positive cases out of the 213 cases reported in Sarawak today.
Another six districts recorded a double-digit increase in cases namely Bintulu (46), Miri (39), Sibu (35), Kuching and Serian (23 each), Kapit (14) and Samarahan (11), while five districts picked up single-digit cases – Julau (8), Sarikei and Sri Aman (6 each) and Limbang and Tebedu have one each.
This thus increased the state tally of positive cases to 15,176.
The State Disaster Management Committee, in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, revealed that from 213 cases reported, a total of 31 cases were symptomatic while 178 consisted of individuals who had been instructed to undergo quarantine at designated facilities.
A total of 168 of them were identified as close contacts to positive cases while 10 were imported cases with five returning from high-risk areas and five from overseas.
As for the 46 cases in Bintulu, two were linked to Jalan Tanjung Cluster, while for Miri, two of the 39 cases reported were linked to Jalan Merpati Cluster and one to the newly declared Lorong Desa Senadin Cluster.
Of Sibu’s 35 cases, two were linked to Jalan Merpati Cluster while two were added to Jalan Sanyan Cluster.
As for the 23 cases in Serian, 20 cases were linked to the newly declared Batu Gong Cluster and three to Chupak Cluster.
Kapit which picked up 14 cases today saw eight cases linked to Gelong Cluster, while in Sarikei, one of the six cases was related to Tanjung Genting Cluster.
Meanwhile, Sarawak also recorded 250 recoveries today with 72 patients discharged from Sibu Hospital, 49 from Miri Hospital, 48 from Bintulu Hospital, 28 from Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) Kapit, 25 from PKRC Betong, 19 from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), five from Sarikei Hospital, two from PKRC Serian and one each from Sri Aman Hospital and PKRC Mukah.
Thus, the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak has increased to 12,351 or 81.39 per cent of total positive cases so far. — DayakDaily
