KUCHING, June 29: Sarawak Fire and Rescue (Bomba) department zone 5 (Bintulu) emerged champion in the state director’s cup volleyball tournament today.
Several teams from the department took part in the tournament, which was held at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) indoor stadium.
Second place went to Kuching (zone 1), while Miri (zone 3) took third.
State Bomba director Khirudin Drahman, who graced the closing ceremony and prize giving, said any in house sports tournament held by the department are meant for team building and giving these firefighters the sense of competing for self betterment.
At the same time, he said sports and other physical activities have multiple physical health benefits.
Also present at the ceremony were Assistant Director of Fire Safety Mohamad Fauzi Mohamat Kifli and head of Kuching zone Henderi Ardimanshah. — DayakDaily
