Bilateral trade between Sarawak, Brunei sees significant growth, enhanced cooperation in key sectors

KUCHING, Aug 28: The value of bilateral trade between Sarawak and Brunei has increased significantly, reaching RM3.76 billion last year, up 23.8 per cent from RM3.02 billion in 2022.

According to a press release, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Deputy Premier and Minister for International Trade, Industry, and Investment, led a Sarawak delegation to the 25th Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Malaysia and Brunei, which was held on Aug 26 in Bandar Seri Begawan.

The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who led a Malaysian delegation.

“Diplomatic relations between Sarawak and Brunei, which celebrate their 40th anniversary this year, will be strengthened through collaboration in areas such as telecommunications, agriculture, tourism, and electricity,” read the release.

Also present at the meeting were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. — DayakDaily
