BAU, June 13: Final preparations are being actively carried out at the Bidayuh Cultural Centre Bau (BCCB) ahead of its official opening set for June 22.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, the centre is set to become a new landmark for the Bidayuh community, and the ceremony is expected to be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
In this regard, Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep conducted a site visit to the building on Friday (June 12) to review the latest progress of the ongoing preparation works to ensure that every aspect of the preparations is progressing smoothly and according to schedule, enabling the opening ceremony to be held in an orderly and successful manner.
Among the works currently being carried out are upgrades and finishing touches in several key areas of the building, including the VIP Baruk, foyer, main hall entrance, and stage area.
At the VIP Baruk, the installation of wood-textured flooring is underway on both levels of the building to enhance comfort and create a more exclusive atmosphere.
In addition, all windows in the area are being fitted with a dual-layer privacy system consisting of curtains and sheer fabric using specially designed curved tracks, providing greater comfort for guests while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the space.
In the foyer, roller blind sunscreen curtains have been installed to help reduce morning sunlight glare, creating a more comfortable environment for visitors.
Meanwhile, finishing works in the main hall include the installation of curtains at the entrance and stage backdrop using specially designed heavy-duty track systems to create a more elegant and prestigious setting.
The choice of luxurious red as the primary colour theme for the stage curtains is seen as fitting for the opening ceremony, which aims to highlight an exclusive and high-class atmosphere.
The completion of these preparation works is expected to further enhance the facilities and overall appearance of BCCB, ensuring that the cultural centre is ready to welcome distinguished guests and visitors during its official opening ceremony.
BCCB is expected to become one of Sarawak’s key cultural centres, playing an important role in preserving, promoting, and strengthening the heritage and identity of the Bidayuh community for present and future generations. — DayakDaily
