KUCHING, March 12: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has confirmed the news of two large crocodiles that have escaped from Matang Wildlife Centre (MWC).

In a Facebook post today, the organisation said two crocodiles, measuring 10 feet and 16 feet, escaped from a damaged enclosure at MWC due to heavy rain yesterday afternoon.

Thus, it has called the locals residing near MWC, especially Kampung Rayu residents, to remain vigilant in the presence of the reptiles.

“However, SFC hopes that you do not panic because our team is working with the local authorities in carrying out comprehensive surveillance and search works in the area to ensure your safety,” it wrote.

Anyone who has information or has seen the crocodiles can contact the SFC hotline at 019-8859996 (Kuching).

Yesterday, the news of the crocodiles’ escape went viral through a text message through the WhatsApp messaging app.
