MIRI, Mar 19: The second day of the 14-day Movement Control Order (MCO) in Miri has seen better compliance to the order since it began on Mar 18.
This morning, Miri Mayor Adam Yii expressed his satisfaction with public compliance to the order during his visits to several eateries locations here.
“I am happy to see that the public is taking notice and complying with the order; eateries premises are practicing no dine-in within their premises, only takeaways,” said Yii.
He later advised and urged the public to stay at home during the 14-day MCO to contain the spread of the Covid-19.
“If we are unable to control the first wave of the disease, we may see a second 14-day MCO,” he warned.
Earlier Yii, accompanied by several enforcement officers from the city council and councillors visited Miri Open Air Market, Unit Market , Pelita Commercial Centre , Krokop 5 and Krokop 10.
Yii and his entourage were spotted visiting these areas around 7am.
The visit was to ensure that public and food premises owners comply with the MCO due to Covid-19.
According to the Health Ministry, there were 117 new Covid-19 cases detected as of today, raising the tally of infections in the country to 790. —DayakDaily
