Betong to host mini PBB Convention on Sept 26

KUCHING, Sept 10: Some 800 party leaders and members are expected to attend the second leg of PBB’s mini convention in Betong this Sept 26.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the opening ceremony of the one-day event at the Datuk Patinggi Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall.

The event’s main committee under chairman, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has been formed to organise the event.


In the committee’s second meeting here today, Uggah revealed that party leaders and members from 14 branches comprising Bukit Saban, Spaoh, Layar, Beting Maro, Saribas, Kalaka, Batang Ai, Engkilili, Balai Ringin, Lingga, Sebuyau, Simanggang, Krian and Kabong are expected to attend.

Veteran members and leaders from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties namely Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) will also be attending.

Uggah, who is also PBB deputy president and Bukit Saban assemblyman, shared that four papers touching on land, politics, entrepreneur development and development (infrastructure and amenities) would be presented.

Uggah, who is also Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development, will give a talk on land and related issues.

Santubong MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who is also Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives and Simanggang PBB chief, will talk on entrepreneur development.

At the meeting today, various sub-committees to facilitate the successful organising of the convention were also formed.

Wan Junaidi, Kalaka assemblyman Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz, Datuk Julaihi Narawi (Sebuyau), Razaili Gapor (Beting Maro), Gerald Rentap Jabu (Layar) and Ricky@Mohammad Razi Sitam (Saribas) and a political secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Richard Rapu were among those at the meeting.

The third leg of the convention will be held in Sibu next month for the central zone and will be followed by the final leg in Kuching. — DayakDaily
