Betong police urge public not to speculate over death of 2yo boy

BETONG, June 7: The police is requesting the public to not speculate over the death of a two-year-old boy in Betong Hospital yesterday.

Betong District police chief DSP Zamry Alli who confirmed the case, said four family members of the deceased have been detained to assist in the investigation.

It is understood that the local hospital had notified the police about the death of the child around 3.45pm yesterday, 45 minutes after his family sent him to the hospital to receive treatment.

“The results of the medical officer’s examination found that there were some injuries and bruises on some parts of the child’s body that may have caused his death.

“Following that, the police arrested four family members of the child aged between 22 and 66, including the mother of the child.

“Until the investigation reaches its conclusion, the members of the public are requested to refrain from making any speculation,” he said in a statement.

All four suspects who were arrested yesterday have been remanded for seven days starting tomorrow to assist in the investigation.
