KUCHING, Jan 11: BESarawak by Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) has partnered with Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) to further raise Sarawak’s profile as a second-tier business event destination in the international market.

The collaboration was sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which was witnessed by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah during Convening Leaders 2023, an education and networking event, at Greater Columbus Convention Centre in Columbus, Ohio, USA yesterday (Jan 10).

According to a post on the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak Facebook page today, the MOU, which takes effect immediately, sets out to develop the International Journal of Business Events and Legacies (IJBEL) in North America and worldwide.

“It is a partnership that provides educational and business development opportunities for Sarawak to expand IJBELā€™s reach and make it an efficient tool for academic and practical use.

“This collaboration with PCMA, the world’s largest platform for business events professionals, would definitely help to showcase Sarawakā€™s unique value proposition to the international associations and corporate markets,” it added.

The ministry emphasised that this would ultimately further elevate Sarawakā€™s profile as a second-tier business event destination in line with the Sarawak More to Discover Campaign which aims to attract more international tourists to the Borneon State.

Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting and BESarawak chief executive officer (CEO) Amelia Roziman were among those present. ā€” DayakDaily
