KUCHING, Feb 3: Beluru District joined four other districts in Sarawak to be under Covid-19 orange zone today after recording 22 local cases in the past 14 days.
The four districts to retain the orange zone status were Bau, Lundu, Subis and Betong with 102 local cases reported in the last 14 days.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today, reported that Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri, Sibu and Kuching remained as a high-risk red zone of Covid-19 pandemic spread with total 1,893 local cases reported in the past 14 days.
Sarikei, Matu, Daro, Sebauh, Lawas, Telang Usan, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga, Meradong, Julau, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Selangau, Samarahan and Sri Aman were still under yellow zone status with total of 151 local cases reported in the past 14 days.
Of the 40 districts in Sarawak, only nine districts still managed to maintain and defend its green zone status.
They are Asajaya, Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Pusa, Saratok, Kabong and Marudi.
Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded 108 new recoveries with 58 patients have been discharged from Sibu Hospital, Kapit Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) (18), Sarawak General Hospital (SGH)(14), Bintulu Hospital (8), Miri Hospital (8), and Sarikei Hospital (2).
This thus increased the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak to 3,092 or 64.10 per cent of total positive cases so far.
However, there are still 1,673 patients hospitalised in hospitals and Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs) throughout Sarawak.
Sibu Hospital is looking after the most cases with 875 patients being isolated and receiving treatment in the hospital while the low-risk patients at PKRC.
Hospital Miri has 333 cases, SGH has 155 cases, Bintulu Hospital has 147 cases, Kapit Hospital and Kapit PKRC have 135 cases, Sarikei Hospital has 23 cases, Limbang Hospital has four cases and PKRC Sipitang in Sabah one case.
Out of the total number of patients, four patients in SGH, six in Sibu Hospital and two patients in Miri Hospital were in the Intensive Care Units (ICUs); while one patient in SGH, seven in Sibu Hospital and two in Miri Hospital required the support of medical equipment.
Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded three Covid-19 fatalities and 148 new positive cases today with Sibu registering 48 cases, Bintulu (15), Dalat (15), Beluru (14), Miri (12), Kapit (8), Kanowit (8), Sebauh (7), Song (7), Sri Aman (5), Bau (3) and one each in Kuching, Lundu, Tatau, Subis, Selangau and Sarikei.
This thus raised the state tally of positive cases to 4,824. – DayakDaily
