KUCHING, Oct 9: Belaga has entered the high-speed internet era with the launch of MySRBN XL, a new fibre-optic initiative designed to deliver faster, more stable, and affordable connectivity to rural communities.
In a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said the introduction of MySRBN XL reflects the Sarawak government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that rural communities are not left behind in the digital age.
“The government recognises that the internet is the key to the future. That is why MySRBN is not only being continued but also improved over time.
“With the introduction of MySRBN XL, we are witnessing a new evolution in our efforts to provide faster, stable and affordable internet. MySRBN XL is not merely a rebranding, but a major leap towards ensuring Sarawakians enjoy internet services on par with global standards,” he said during the launch of MySRBN’s new coverage at the Belaga Community Hall today.
Despite Belaga’s remote location and challenging terrain, Julaihi emphasised that Sarawak government remains steadfast in expanding digital connectivity to ensure residents enjoy equal access to online services and opportunities.
He explained that MySRBN XL, introduced in August 2025, offers fibre-optic internet speeds of up to 100Mbps under a prepaid plan priced at RM79 per month, without long-term contracts.
This, he added, provides rural users greater flexibility based on their financial capability.
As part of a special promotion, new customers who register before Dec 31, 2025, will enjoy a discounted rate of RM69 per month for the first six months.
Julaihi stressed that the initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to deliver high-speed internet and make it affordable for rural Sarawakians.
Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) chief executive officer Dato Ir Ts Sudarnoto Osman, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications Syed Mohamad Fauzi Shahab, and Belaga District Officer Bidah Lujah. — DayakDaily
