KUCHING, March 21: Federal Minister of Works, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, has expressed gratitude for receiving two beautiful handicrafts as gifts: a beaded necklace from the Association of Community Leaders/Kayan Tribe Leaders, Baram, and a rattan hat from the Orang Ulu Belaga Group.

“I was moved to receive the beautiful handicrafts during today’s honourable visit led by YB Datuk Liwan Lagang, Belaga assemblyman, and YB Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, Murum assemblyman, both from Hulu Rajang Parliament, Sarawak, as well as YB Dato Anyi Ngau, Baram Member of Parliament, Sarawak.

“This unique beaded necklace was a gift from the Association of Community Leaders/Kayan Tribe Leaders, Baram, while the rattan hat was a gift from the Orang Ulu Belaga Group,” he said in a statement on his Facebook page yesterday (March 20).

Nanta, who is also Kapit Member of Parliament, said that he is proud to be a Sarawakian and a Malaysian in an ethnically and racially diverse population.

“That is what distinguishes this country: its multi-cultural and ethnic diversity while remaining harmonious,” he added. — DayakDaily
