KUCHING, April 17: Social activist Datuk Seri Ang Lai Soon is urging the general public to not only respect but also learn, accept, and tolerate other religions and beliefs.

He said this is for everyone to live in peace and harmony in this rather difficult, troublesome, and complicated world.

ā€œReligious and spiritual beliefs ā€” whatever all humans believe in, and however we make sense of the world ā€” are highly personal and incredibly emotional and should always be respected by everyone.

ā€œIt is the basic human right of all human beings,ā€ he said in his Easter message issued yesterday (April 16).

This year, Ang noted, Easter coincides with the holy month of Ramadan observed by Muslims, various Indian festivals, and the JewĀish PasĀsover.

While in most parts of the world there still exists unconscionable atrocities, cruelty, bullying, rudeness and inhuman treatment inflicted especially on the vulnerable, he urged the public to be helpful towards others.

ā€œAt Easter and at all times, give a helping hand to those who are needy, sick, disabled, vulnerable, weak, old and persecuted.

ā€œDo not live in regret. Our human hearts are warm and capable of showing love, affection, and compassion in abundance,ā€ he added. ā€” DayakDaily
