KUCHING, Sept 6: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) senior vice president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh has strongly condemned a recent article alleging that Sarawak’s gas resources are being controlled by a certain Fuzhou group as ‘dangerous and misleading’.

In a statement, Wong said that the article attempted to twist facts to sow division among Sarawakians and stated that PETROS is for all Sarawakians, not any ‘hidden groups’.

The Bawang Assan assemblyman said that for decades, PETRONAS has been the biggest beneficiary of Sarawak’s oil and gas (O&G), which was why PETROS was created—to take back what is Sarawak’s.

“PETROS is the first step in a long journey to ensure that more of Sarawak’s wealth stays in Sarawak for the benefit of our people. Any claim that Petros was secretly built to enrich a hidden group is meant to confuse Sarawakians,” he said.

Describing the controversial article as an attempt to ‘distract and divide’, Wong said the real issue is ensuring Sarawak gains full control of its resources after decades of revenue outflow.

“Trillions have flowed out of Sarawak, and PETROS is here to change that path. But this fight is far from over. We must stay focused on the real issue, which is ensuring Sarawak gains full control of its resources, and not wasting energy on fake stories and invented conspiracies.

“Let me be crystal clear—PETROS exists for all Sarawakians, not for any special group, not for any hidden agenda. Every sen Sarawak earns through PETROS in the future will go back to the people for better infrastructures, better hospitals, and education; lower cost of living, and more jobs and opportunities for our children,” he said.

He also reminded detractors that PETROS is manned by the State government and supported by Sarawakians across communities.

“This is about protecting Sarawak’s dignity and sovereignty. Those who try to divide us will fail because Sarawak will stand together, and no one can break our unity.” — DayakDaily
