SIBU, Nov 16: Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh has expressed his intention to contest in the 13th Sarawak Election (PRN13).
He made this announcement while distributing RM635,000 in minor rural project (MRP) grants to 64 longhouses in the Bawang Assan constituency today.
However, Wong, who is now 82 years old, emphasised that the final decision would rest with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“I will leave the decision to the Premier. It’s entirely up to him,” said Wong, who is also the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) senior vice president.
During his speech at the event, Wong highlighted that as a representative of the GPS government, he is entitled to various allocations for development purposes.
For the current year, Wong said he would maximise allocations due to the nearing end of the government’s financial year.
Wong also committed to securing more MRP grants in 2025 to promote further development in his constituency.
“Now that I am part of the GPS government, I will continue to work diligently to assist all of you,” he emphasised. — DayakDaily
