Bau District Police: Man arrested with 1.18 grams of syabu

KUCHING, Jan 15: A 20-year old unemployed man from Bau was arrested by the police for possessing 1.18 gram of Syabu (Methamphetamine), today.

According to Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon in a statement today, the suspect was arrested by a team of police from Bau Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) at about 11 pm in Bau town, after behaving suspiciously.

“Upon inspection, police found a transparent plastic packet containing clear crystallised substances with an estimated weight of 1.18 gram, believed to be Methamphetamine, inside the one suspect short trousers pocket.

“The suspect was arrested under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs act 1952,” he said.

Poge noted background checks also revealed that the suspect has a record of the previous offence.

“If convicted of the offence, the suspect can be fined not more than RM100,000 or imprisonment not exceeding five years, or both,” he added. –DayakDaily.
