KUCHING, June 22: Batu Kawa is set to have a second bridge worth RM160 million with a dual carriageway spanning over 5km.

According to him, the development plan was approved by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Open to alleviate the traffic congestion in the Batu Kawa area.

“The Sarawak government approved a new project to build the second bridge in Batu Kawa last year under the 12th Malaysia Plan Mid-Term Review (2023),” he said in a statement today.

He said the project would be implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak through four stages: consultant appointment, geological survey, land acquisition, and public bidding/tender.

Dr Sim, who is Batu Kawah assemblyman, said that a 3-kilometre link road from the Jalan Stephen Yong traffic lights through Segudup to Matang will also be constructed soon.

He added that the new roads will ease road congestion and reduce the driving time of many who live in and around Batu Kawa. — DayakDaily
