Batang Lupar 2 Bridge construction now at 45.6 pct completion

SIMANGGANG, June 26: Construction on the Second Batang Lupar Bridge which started in March 2022 has now reached 45.6 per cent completion.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Sarawak Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said the project costing RM223.63 million will be the tallest cable stay bridge in Malaysia with a height of 145.5 metres.

“This bridge will be a new landmark in Simanggang and will change the development landscape in Simanggang town when it is fully completed,” he said during a work visit to the site recently.

Aidel who is Sadong Jaya assemblyman also visited the construction site of the road from Jalan Kejatau to Batang Lupar 2 Bridge under the B2 package of the Phase 1 project.

He also visited the Bandar Simanggang road upgrading project which involves widening the two-lane road to a four-lane road.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) and Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis; Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor and Sri Aman Resident Mahra Salleh. — DayakDaily
