KUCHING, March 24: The Batang Kemena Bridge in Sebauh, with a progress rate of 64.94 per cent, is expected to be completed by December this year.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the RM74.89 million project, with a length of 728.56m and a width of 12m, will provide the surrounding communities with additional accessibility as they won’t have to solely depend on the existing ferry service.

However, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, when monitoring the project site recently, said the project faced slight delays due to the floods in Bintulu earlier this year.

Among the main components currently being implemented are piling, drainage systems, and the relocation of utilities and pipelines.

“This bridge is not just an infrastructure project but also key to the economic and social development of the Sebauh area.

“It will open up more opportunities for trade, business, and better communication for the residents,” he said.
