KUCHING, April 30: The BAS.MY Kuching’s Saujana-King Centre route has officially been launched today as the fourth addition to the federal government’s Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme in Kuching city.
This new route enhances the city’s public transport network, bringing improved connectivity and convenience to residents and commuters across key areas.
The Saujana–King Centre route will serve various residential locations, including Jalan Rubber, Jalan Poh Kwong Park, Jalan Stapok, RPR Batu Kawah, and Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho. It will also provide direct connections to major landmarks such as Sarawak General Hospital, Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Timberland Medical Centre, The Spring, Boulevard, SJK Chung Hua Batu 4½, and Sunny Hill.
Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) Sarawak chairman Michael Kong highlighted that the new route will significantly improve accessibility and connectivity within the city.
He expressed pride in the programme’s expansion, saying, “We are thrilled to introduce the Saujana–King Centre route as our fourth addition to SBST Kuching. This launch brings us closer to our goal of creating a more accessible and efficient public transport system for the people of Kuching.”
To better cater to the needs of working adults, students, and the general public, the new route will operate with increased bus frequency during peak hours, running every 30 minutes from 6am to 7am and 5pm to 6pm.

As CVLB Sarawak observes a growing number of commuters using the existing SBST Kuching routes, Kong encouraged more people to consider public transport not only for work commutes but also for attending school, official matters, and everyday errands.
“This new route is just one part of our ongoing efforts to modernise and revitalise Kuching’s public transport network,” he added.
Looking ahead, CVLB Sarawak is working on an additional six routes, which will be launched in the coming weeks as part of a continued effort to expand the network and further enhance public transportation services in the region.
During today’s launch, Kong, accompanied by Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak Chairman and Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, also took the bus ride to King Centre. — DayakDaily
