Baru Bian

KUCHING, Feb 25: Selangau MP Baru Bian says the fact that those asking Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to step down as prime minister have made a U-turn has reaffirmed that his faction within Parti Keadilan Rakyat has been right all along.

“I am happy to note that those who had been calling for YAB Tun’s resignation have done a U-turn and are now in tune with our call.

“This vindication proves our stand has been correct all along,” said Baru in a statement today.

Baru, Saratok MP Ali Biju and Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin who are aligning with former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali had resigned from PKR yesterday amid political turmoil of forming a new government.

Expressing his support for Dr Mahathir, Baru who was former Works Minister said their stand has been consistent during the past 21 months and shall remain the same.

“I reiterate that we have the fullest confidence in YAB Tun to lead us to realizing his Shared Prosperity vision as he brings the nation together in reconciliation and healing.

“Those who have been observing us would know that our team’s stand has been very consistent during the past 21 months and shall remain so, that YAB Tun continues as PM until GE15.

“I call on all supporters to give us a bit of time, and to remain patient and calm as we pray together and work for a peaceful solution to this political impasse.

“I understand Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has advised the same, for the rakyat to be patient as a resolution is being formulated,” said Baru.

Baru reiterated his direction and commitment to continue to fight for Sarawak and Sarawakians.

“I am still committed to ensuring that our beloved Sarawak will continue to realise its rights and no longer be denied the development and prosperity it deserves.

“Moving forward, I wish to reaffirm that our struggle remains intact. Our track record of fighting for the poor and marginalised is clear. I assure our supporters that YB Ali Biju, YB Willie Mongin and I, with the rest of our colleagues, will continue to act wisely and humbly, always in the interest of our people, Sarawakians, and our nation,” said Baru.

He apologised to his supporters for the silence amidst the political turmoil, as he was away in Bario to fulfill a prior arranged engagement during the past two days.— DayakDaily
