KUCHING, July 21: Several roads in Marudi will be closed for the Baram Regatta 2026 that will be held from July 23-26 at Dataran Marudi and Sungai Baram.
In a statement, Marudi police chief DSP Nor Aizan Jamil said that starting July 23, Jalan Kapitan Lim Ching Kiat will be closed daily from 6am to 12am to establish a car-free area and to ensure visitors’ safety throughout the event.
The roads that will be affected include the following:
- Lorong Tua Pek Kong
- Kapitan Lim Ching Kiat Roundabout
- The road in front of Mount Mulu
- Lorong Lima behind Public Bank
- Jalan Kubu-Jalan Kapitan Lim Ching Kiat-Marudi Hospital Roundabout
“Road users are advised to use alternative routes to ease traffic flow and to park their vehicles in the parking areas provided,” he said.
Additionally, the public is also not allowed to park their vehicles along Jalan Kampung Cina up to the traffic lights and Jalan Kompleks Sukan (Stadium) up to the Marudi Bridge.
Police also urged the public to cooperate by obeying the instructions of officers on duty and planning their journeys to ensure the smooth organisation of the Baram Regatta 2026. — DayakDaily
