Bank Islam, Bank Rakyat present RM2.4 mln business tithe to Sarawak Baitulmal Fund

KUCHING, July 15: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has witnessed the handover of business tithe (‘zakat’) amounting over RM2.4 million from Bank Islam Malaysia and Bank Rakyat to the Sarawak Baitulmal Fund.

At Wisma Bapa Malaysia this morning, Bank Islam Malaysia group chief executive officer Mohd Muazzam Mohamed submitted a total of RM870,000 to the fund for the financial year of 2021.

Meanwhile, Bank Rakyat chief executive officer Dr Mohammad Hanis Osman handed over RM1,536,601, also for the financial year of 2021, to Sarawak Islamic Council chief Datu Misnu Taha representing Sarawak Baitulmal Fund.
