KUCHING, Jan 16: The Tanah Puteh Health Clinic has upgraded its toilet facilities for its male patients, including the addition of toilet facilities for people with special needs (OKU).
Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen expressed his satisfaction with the new facilities after visiting the clinic with Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong Wui Wui and his special assistant, George Lam, this morning.
“Last year, we paid a visit to the clinic to better understand the situation after receiving multiple complaints from the public on the condition of the toilets in the clinic, especially among the elderly and OKU, where there is no specific toilet or railings to provide support for them.
“We also paid a visit to Sarawak Health Department (JKNS) to understand the issue better and to learn about the plan to upgrade the toilet facilities and urged them to speed up the improvement project for the benefit of patients.
“That is why it is good to see that the clinic’s toilet facilities have been improved and upgraded so it can provide a comfortable environment for patients and the public,” he said in a statement today.
During the visit, Dr Yii handed over an RM100,000 allocation to the clinic for any necessary upgrading of basic facilities or purchasing medical and non-medical equipment. — DayakDaily
