KUCHING, Feb 19: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii has handed over RM10,000 to the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of SK St Andrew, Sg Apong to purchase teaching tools.

He said the school still lacks necessary teaching facilities such as bookcases, hand sanitisers, soaps, face masks, office chairs, conference tables, standing fans, lockers and cabinets although the new school year is about to start.

“That is why I allocated RM10,000 to the school’s PIBG for the purchase of necessary items as requested by the school.

“Before this, we have also contributed to the building of the pre-school kitchen block in the school that helps the young children learn some essential skills even at a young age,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Yii, who is from Democratic Action Party (DAP), said he and his team will next be helping the less fortunate students in SK St Andrew to buy new uniforms to alleviate the burden of the families.

He said despite the limited resources, they would do their best to contribute to the development of education so that all students can enjoy equal educational opportunities. — DayakDaily
