KUCHING, Nov 8: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii contributed a total of RM200,000 to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for upgrading various medical and dental equipment in the hospital.
This is in response to the engagements the MP’s team had with the management of the hospital as well as a request from them on the different needs the hospital is facing.
Among the medical equipment needed were Acculan 4 Battery Dermatome, ECG Machine, new computers to help with diagnostics, and other electronic upgrades.
Other needs include accessories for the prevention of pressure injuries to patients such as ripple mattress and foam dressing, computers for the use of nurse supervisors/matrons, and ergonomic chairs for the nurses in wards. On top of that, the funds would also be used for hospital staff activities.
Dr Yii hoped the new medical equipment will help to provide better quality of care and improve the effectiveness of treatment and increase patients’ satisfaction in the process.
“In my meeting with Dr Ngian Hie Ung, the Medical Director of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) to pass the allocations, we also discussed on the different healthcare needs in the hospital including the need for more medical staff and specialists in the hospitals,” said Dr Yii in a press statement today. — DayakDaily
