Bandar Kuching MP channels funds to upgrade, expand SK Jalan Ong Tiang Swee multi-purpose auditorium

KUCHING, Aug 18: Work to expand and upgrade SK Jalan Ong Tiang Swee’s multi-purpose auditorium costing RM107,300 has been completed to ensure conducive learning environment.

Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii in a statement today said the project is among those funded by his Democratic Action Party (DAP) Bandar Kuching Service Centre which focuses on investing in education to build a more conducive learning environment for students.

“Through my office, the school asked for assistance in upgrading the school’s auditorium at the beginning of the year.

“The upgrading projects included resurfacing, expanding the stage, upgrading the sound room, wiring and upgrades on the electrical system, installing fans, improving the gutters for better outflow and also building of an additional awning,” he said.

Dr Yii said his office also built a roof for the school connecting the corridor between the school office building and the auditorium, especially to protect the school’s teachers and students from the sun and rain in case of bad weather.

“In addition, the roofed area can also be used as a waiting area, where students are protected from the sun and rain while waiting for their parents to pick them up.

“SK Jalan Ong Tiang Swee Primary School is my alma mater. I am deeply honoured and grateful to my alma mater for giving me the opportunity to give back to the teachers and students here,” he added. — DayakDaily
