KUCHING, May 2: The construction of Baleh hydroelectric plant (HEP) must proceed despite the Movement Control Order (MCO), as Baleh in Kapit is a green zone area, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing.
Additionally, he said the construction of the Baleh HEP must not be disrupted as it could cause the delay of its completion.
“The contractor of the Baleh HEP has a work schedule to follow and I believe they must meet their deadline. So, since the Baleh HEP site is located in a green zone in upper Kapit, which is also a green zone area, work must proceed,” Masing told DayakDaily today.
As for construction materials such as cement, Masing said, the dam contractor has highlighted their needs (for the cement) and CMS has taken the necessary action to supply the material to the site.
When contacted, CMS Berhad Group Managing Director Datuk Isaac Lugun said, supplies of cement has been arranged accordingly.
