KUCHING, March 27: Global energy technology company Baker Hughes reaffirms its view of Sarawak’s importance as a vital energy hub and plans to further expand its presence across the State.
This commitment was emphasised during a courtesy visit by Baker Hughes’ delegates led by chairman and chief executive officer Lorenzo Simonelli to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, recently.
According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Lorenzo expressed appreciation to the Premier of Sarawak for the support towards the growth of Baker Hughes.
The visit underscores Sarawak’s importance as Baker Hughes’ primary Malaysian hub, accounting for 70 per cent of the company’s overall activities in the country.
Beyond strengthening strategic ties, the meeting also creates fresh opportunities for energy technology development in the State.
Baker Hughes is a Fortune 150 energy technology company that has been established in Malaysia for the past 50 years with its Asia Pacific headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability of Sarawak Datu Abang Ahmad Abang Morni, Baker Hughes Oilfield Services & Equipment executive vice president Amerino Gatti, Regional senior vice president Tayo Akinokun, and other government officials. – DayakDaily
