KUCHING, May 4: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak deputy chairman Baharuddin Mokhsen said he could not understand why he has been persecuted by the party’s central body when he has been instrumental in building and strengthening the party in Sarawak since 2002.

“I am all for democratic principle which we have adhere to all this while in PKR. But what I can’t understand now is that why the party’s central body is persecuting me and other leaders who have supported former deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali in the last party election?

“What Azmin and (PKR former Wanita chief) Zuraidah Kamaruddin have done to PKR has nothing to do with me. It’s their political choice to leave PKR and join Bersatu,” Baharuddin told DayakDaily through a telephone interview today.

Baharuddin, who is also Petrajaya PKR chairman reiterated that in the past decade, when PKR president Datuk Seri Annuar Ibrahim was in and out of prison, it was Azmin and Zuraidah who took up the responsibilities to look after Sarawak PKR’s affairs.

“On top of that, since I joined the party in 2002, I have helped it to expand in Sarawak from just a few branches to all the 31 branches today,” he said.

On a report that he has been suspended from the party, Baharuddin said he has yet to receive the official letter.

“But I am disappointed that this serious issue is being done during the holy month of Ramadhan and also during MCO. Major issue like this should be settled properly after the Ramadhan and MCO is lifted.

“Furthermore, why can’t they just write in to me personally?” he asked.

Baharuddin and his sister, Sarawak PKR Wanita chief Nurhanim Mokhsen were among the PKR leaders who have been suspended today by the party’s central disciplinary board.

Besides the two leaders, Sibu PKR chairman Abdul Raafidin Majidi has also received the same fate. — DayakDaily
