KUCHING, May 22: Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in Kuching and National Youth Skills Institute in Miri has been designated at the vaccination centres for the inoculation of AstraZeneca (AZ) Covid-19 vaccine starting from June 7 until July 27.
The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), in a statement today, informed that the 1.24 million doses of the AZ vaccines will be opened up for appointment bookings on ‘first click, first serve’ basis for senior citizens aged 60 years and above beginning at 12 noon tomorrow (May 23) via www.vaksincovid.gov.my.
As has been announced, the AZ vaccines have been extended to five states in Malaysia namely Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Johor and Sarawak given the high number of Covid-19 cases reported.
CITF emphasised that this measure was to ensure senior citizens including those in the high-risks group continue to be protected.
Those keen to opt-in for the AZ vaccines can make booking appointments starting tomorrow.
At the same time, CITF also encouraged young people to help and assist the elderly in making the booking appointments online.
Meanwhile, those in the waiting list when they registered for AZ vaccines during the first round of registration on May 5 will also get an appointment for their vaccine shots in this second round of AZ vaccine rollout.
Currently, the intervals for the first and second vaccine shots for AZ is 12 weeks (three months).— DayakDaily
