BETONG, Feb 15: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan wants feedback from the locals on the type of industries they wanted the proposed Betong Industrial Estate to host once it is completed.

As such, he advised the Betong Resident Office to organise dialogues between the people and investors who are keen to invest in the industrial estate, which would have very comprehensive facilities.

“We want the industrial estate to be the centrepiece for popular industries in Betong, like the rubber and oil palm plantations.

“As an example, there are many products that can be produced by oil palm, and this industrial estate can be a major hub to produce such products,” he said in a statement, which was issued after he visited the project site for the industrial estate recently.

Awang Tengah added that it was also important for the local community here to arm themselves with the skills to tap opportunities that come their way when the Pan Borneo Highway project is completed. This is because Betong is situated along this mammoth project.

Meanwhile, Awang Tengah also visited Anjung Usahawan Betong, which was opened recently.
