SIBU, Jan 30: A contractor was allegedly assaulted by two people, including an auxiliary policeman, in a road rage incident along Jalan Kong Jit Khim here at about 12.15am today.
Sibu District police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit confirmed three arrests were made. He revealed that the complainant had been driving along Jalan Kong Jit Khim when he was forced to swerve to the right to avoid several boxes and almost hit a car which was travelling in the opposite direction to Kanowit.
The second car, which was carrying two men and a woman, made a U-turn and drove in front of the complainant’s vehicle, blocking the way.
Seeing this, the complainant wound down his side window and asked why they were blocking his way.
In response, the two men in the other car allegedly rushed out and punched the complainant several times in the face. They also allegedly damaged the panel on one of the doors of the complainant’s car until it could not be opened and broke the driver’s side window.
Stanley revealed that before the suspects left the scene, one of them allegedly identified himself to the complainant as a policeman and took away the complainant’s IC, driving licence and contact number.
The case is being investigated under Section 427 and 323 of the Penal Code. ā DayakDaily
