KUCHING, March 5: Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong has called on Kuching Water Board (KWB) to rectify the water pipes at Lorong Berjaya 3 in Kenyalang Park here.
Yong said some 20 residents had complained to the authority before the general election last year after KWB carried out a pipe-laying project at the residential area.
“According to the residents, the project was not properly implemented, and because of that, it caused blockage to the existing main drainage system,” she told a press conference here today
“Rainwater running off roof gutters cannot flow through the main drain. Instead, it flows onto the road and later the compounds of the affected houses.”
She hoped KWB could rectify the matter promptly.
Meanwhile, Yong said the affected residents were also unhappy with the road in their areas. She said the road seemed to be pasted with `koyok’ (plasters) here and there.
“The workmanship on the road surface is appalling, and I hope Kuching South City Council (MBKS) can do something about it,” she said. — DayakDaily
