KUCHING, Jan 15: Several villages in Serian have been severely affected by recent floods, leaving key roads and bridges damaged and cutting off access to essential services.
Serian Member of Parliament Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem said authorities are working to address urgent drainage issues, slope stability concerns, and immediate aid needs to ensure residents’ safety and prevent further disruptions.
“The safety and facilities of residents are the main agenda. Proactive measures and the cooperation of all parties are crucial in addressing these problems, with the welfare of the people as the top priority,” he said when visiting Kampung Krusen Kranji, Kampung Krusen Siu, and Kampung Sorak Melayu today to assess the damage and discuss solutions with relevant government agencies.
Residents expressed hope that the government’s interventions would soon restore access and improve infrastructure.
