KUCHING, Aug 18: Sarikei is gearing up to host the Sarawak-level National Day 2025 celebration with at least three major events lined up on Aug 30 and 31, set to draw large crowds and showcase the spirit of patriotism.
Sarawak Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, who is also the minister in charge of the celebration, said this year’s festivities will be held under the theme ‘Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni’ which underscores shared wellbeing and appreciation of cultural diversity and human values.
“The highlight programmes include the National Day eve celebration, the Unity Work programme, and the official Sarawak-level National Day 2025 gathering,” she told reporters after chairing the Celebration Committee Meeting at the Sarawak Government Administrative Centre in Sarikei today, TVS reported.
Fatimah revealed that the celebration will reach its peak with the presence of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, together with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
In extending the invitation, she urged the people of Sarawak, particularly those in Sarikei and neighbouring areas, to come in full force to enliven the occasion.
“Let us all raise the Jalur Gemilang at our homes, business premises and vehicles as a symbol of love and loyalty to our nation,” she added.
Fatimah further emphasised that National Day is more than just an annual celebration, describing it as a symbol of the struggles of past generations that must continue to be strengthened to instil patriotism among Malaysians. — DayakDaily
