KUCHING, Nov 12: SK Kampung Tebaang in Daro will be upgraded under phase two development of the RM1 billion contra advance payment to the Federal Government, says Education, Science and Technological Research assistant minister Dr Annuar Rapaee.
Answering Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad question in the state assembly sitting, Annuar said the project is still under design and preparation to tender document.
“Since 2018, we have identified four dilapidated schools in Daro constituency and RM10 million was allocated to fix them.
“In 2017, when this dilapidated school issue was raised, Sarawak recorded 1,020 schools under this category. Out of that total, 433 have already been repaired while the remaining 587 are waiting for their turn,” he disclosed.
While the budget allocated to fix dilapidated schools was RM1.855 billion, Annuar disclosed that RM517 million came from the Federal Government, RM338 million from the State government and the remaining balance from the contra advance payment.
“Although we know that education is the responsibility and purview of Federal government, our Sarawak government still allocates its own fund because we take this as a serious issue.- DayakDaily
