KUCHING, Nov 25: Music enthusiasts can look forward to an electrifying celebration of cultural unity as Kuala Lumpur gears up to host the ASEAN-Korea Music Festival (ROUND Festival 2025) on June 21 and 22, 2025.

According to Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Dato Seri Tiong King Sing, the landmark event, co-organised by Malaysia and South Korea in collaboration with KBS World, will bring together renowned artists from ASEAN countries and South Korea to highlight the transformative power of music in fostering regional harmony.

“I am confident the festival will create opportunities for musicians and fans to connect while promoting regional integration,” he said in a statement today.

This was among the matters that Tiong had discussed with South Korea’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Yu Inchon, during the China International Travel Mart (CITM) in Shanghai, China, recently.

“In our bilateral discussions, I suggested establishing more platforms for artistic and cultural exchanges, leveraging South Korea’s global influence in pop culture to foster social harmony and bilateral engagement,” he added.

Tiong further revealed that South Korea has plans to establish the Korean Cultural Centre in Kuala Lumpur next year, to commemorate 65 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Tiong and Yu also discussed engaging young audiences, noting their keen interest in K-pop, Korean beauty trends, and the Korean language.

“We agreed to incorporate youth-focused activities into the Malaysia-South Korea Tourism and Culture Cooperation memorandum of understanding (MoU), which will be signed during the ASEAN Tourism Forum in 2025.

“These initiatives reflect our shared vision to nurture cultural understanding and create enduring connections between the youth of our two nations. Together, we will continue to strengthen our cultural and diplomatic bonds for a brighter future,” he emphasised. — DayakDaily
