‘Apply awareness, trust and integrity as a day-to-day practice’

State Agriculture Department staff making the integrity pledge recently to provide efficient and transparent public services with integrity.

KUCHING, Jan 20: Two hundred officers of the state Agriculture Department, including general managers of 28 area farmers’ organisations, made an integrity pledge to uphold good organisational governance recently.

The pledge was made during the department’s Integrity Day 2019.

It was led by the department’s acting director Dr Alvin Chai Lian Kuet, deputy director (Commercialisation) Ngab Dollah, and deputy director (Management Services) Salmah Jobeli.


“The purpose of organising the Integrity Day is to enhance awareness and understanding among participants on the need and importance of applying values ​​and integrity in carrying out their duties and responsibilities as civil servants.

“In addition, it was also carried out to remind all participants of issues relating to integrity and creating awareness of good code of conduct in the workplace,” the department said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Chai, in his speech, observed that the public service was facing increasingly complex and challenging situations.

“A public service of efficiency, transparency and integrity is expected by the people to make fair and prudent service delivery.

“In fact, the integrity value has been raised as one of the basic values ​​in the effort to make the Sarawak Public Service as ‘a world class civil service’,” said Chai.

He recommended that integrity be a stronghold in every part of the department by applying awareness, trust and integrity as a day-to-day practice to create a conducive environment for integrity to strive in the department. — DayakDaily
