MIRI, April 4: A couple panicked shortly after returning home from a joyride at about 9am today when they realised they had locked their two-year-old girl inside the car.

The freak episode happened when the couple got out of the vehicle upon reaching their house at Desa Murni Permyjaya. They went inside the house for a short while and later came out to pick up their daughter, who was in the back seat.

But their faces turned pale when they realised that the doors of their MPV were all locked and the car key was inside!

While frantically searching for a solution, their next door neighbour knew exactly what to do — call Miri Civil Defence Force (APM).

Three APM personnel rushed to the house when the alarm was raised at 9.26am, and it took them about 13 minutes to unlock the doors and rescue the toddler, who was trapped inside the vehicle for some 30 minutes.

Fortunately, the vehicle was parked in a shaded car porch. The young girl was not hurt in the incident. — DayakDaily
