API monitoring station in Serian has commenced operations

SERIAN, Sept 24: The Air Pollution Index (API) readings can now be recorded in the Serian district after the installation of Mobile CAQM 002, yesterday.

According to Scieno TW Sdn Bhd specialist operations engineer, Mohamad Daut Bolhir, the CAQM 002 engine was brought in from Miri to read the air quality in the Serian District, which was said to be very high over the last two weeks.

“The Mobile CAQM 002 that was stationed at SK Kuala Baram 2 was temporary shifted to Serian due to the demand from people here to monitor the daily air quality.


“The whole equipment arrived yesterday and it was immediately installed. We can expect it to measure air quality readings today after a 24-hour operation,” Mohd Daut said in a statement.

The Mobile CAQM 002, which is now at Serian police district headquarters.

He explained that the Mobile CAQM 002 was previously stationed at SK Kuala Baram 2 for air quality reading after Miri was hit by haze earlier last month.

Also present were Serian district resident Johnathan Lugoh, Serian fire station chief James Gani, ASP Alias Nen from Serian pilice district and dan Captain (PA) Josten Ringin from Serian Civil Defence Force.

Meanwhile, as at 12 noon today, Serian recorded moderate air quality reading with an API of 79. — DayakDaily
