KUCHING, May 20: The appointment of Baram MP Anyi Ngau as Malaysia Cocoa Board chairman augurs well for the cocoa industry in Sarawak as the state still has plenty of land for its cultivation, said Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) secretary-general Datul Nelson Balang Rining.
“There are many ways and means to help farmers in Sarawak such as getting more federal allocation to farmers to open up more land as we have plenty,” Balang told DayakDaily when contacted today.
He added that Anyi, who has been Baram MP for two terms is also a senior PDP leader.
“On behalf of our party PDP We thank the government of the day Perikatan Nasional (PN) for appointing YB Anyi Ngau to be the chairman of the Malaysia Cocoa Board,” said Balang.
Besides Anyi, seven other PN MPs were also appointed to various chairmanship posts in the Ministry of Plantation Industry and Commodities.
At the time of writing, Anyi still could not be reached for comments.—DayakDaily
