KUCHING, Feb 23: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was today spotted using a file bag with a Sarawak songket motif to carry the Budget 2023 document to be tabled in Parliament at 4pm tomorrow (Feb 24).
According to a news report on TVS’ website, Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, flashed the black file bag when arriving at the Ministry’s office in Putrajaya at 3.30pm today to check the final preparations for the budget.
He also spent some time communicating with staff involved in the preparation of the Budget 2023 at the Gallery Hall in the lobby of the Ministry before visiting the Tax Operations Room and the Budget 2023 Operations Room at Level 10 and signing related documents.
Deputy Finance Ministers Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Steven Sim Chee Keong, as well as Treasury Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican were also present.
Anwar was earlier reported to have said that the Budget 2023 would take into account the current economic challenges and at the same time, drive the country’s economic growth while attracting investment.
He said the government also took into account the country’s competitiveness, the speed of business approvals as well as several new initiatives, including digitisation and sustainable use, apart from production of natural resources in the downstream process in the budget. — DayakDaily
