MIRI, Nov 1: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Dato Sri Anwar Ibrahim is seeking for Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s consideration to lift the entry ban on several of the party’s key leaders during the election campaigning period for the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).

This, he said, would allow PKR leaders to help the party’s candidates in Sarawak with their election campaigns.

“I hope Abang Johari can take down the ban so that our party leaders can come to Sarawak during the election campaign ….we have several names that are barred from entering Sarawak such as Rafizi Ramli (PKR deputy chairman)…PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and I hope Abang Johari could consider dropping some of the restrictions, so that they can do the election campaigning fairly during the (campaign) period,” he told those present for the announcement of the party’s candidates for Sarawak in Miri earlier this afternoon.

He said, that PKR did not want to have any issues or conflict with the State government.

Meanwhile, on the matter of several party members or previous incumbents who have not been included in PKR’s candidate list for GE15, Anwar said the selection of new faces which mainly features young candidates, is essential to give the party a better chance of winning seats contested.

For GE15, two-term incumbent for Miri, Dr Micheal Teo will not be fielded. Instead, the party leadership is fielding newcomer Chiew Choon Man, a 31-year-old lawyer.
