Anti-rabies operation to be launched in Kuching Division following fatal cases

KUCHING, May 6: The Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government through the local authorities will carry out an anti-rabies operation in Kuching Division from May 8 to 12.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the local authorities involved are the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP).

The operation is being implemented in response to nine reported rabies cases in Sarawak that had resulted in seven fatalities in the first four months of this year.


It is advised that public keep their pet dogs within their premises during the operation.

Dogs that are found and caught outside the house compound by the local authorities will not be returned in accordance with the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance, 1999. — DayakDaily
