KUCHING, Sept 9: A ‘mopping’ vaccination programme will be carried out for students in Sibu who are not present for their Covid-19 vaccination at the designated vaccination centres (PPV).

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee explained that SDDMC will be holding such a programme together with the school teachers and parents to provide counseling to students who refuse to receive the vaccine.

“We must find out why they did not come (for the vaccination). There may be a transportation issue, as well as other problems.

“Apart from that, we will also conduct a ‘walk-in’ vaccination programme for them,” he said after visiting the National Covid-19 Immunisation Program (PICK) held at the Sibu Civic Center PPV, on Wednesday (Sept 8).

A total of 9,289 students aged 16 to 17-years-old from 33 secondary school in Sibu division has started receiving their vaccines at the designated PPVs, namely Sibu Civic Center PPV, Sibu Jaya Multipurpose Hall PPV, and Kanowit District Office Hall PPV.

During the program, a total of 1,625 students from SMK St Elizabeth, SMK Sacred Heart, SMK Bukit Lima and SMK Methodist were vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNtech Covid-19 vaccine. — DayakDaily
