KUCHING, APRIL 5: Great journalism feeds the mind, moves the heart and transforms the landscape.

Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB), the state’s driver for Business Events, is geared to showcase journalistic excellence at the upcoming 9th Anak Sarawak Awards 2018.

“Journalists are one of the greatest assets, especially in this dynamic Business Events. Be it in print or broadcasting, they hold crucial roles in delivering information that is credible, relevant and impactful — turning raw complex information into easily digestible knowledge. They are the voice that shapes how the sector is perceived,” said SCB chief operating officer Amelia Roziman.

“These impacts, resonating beyond tourism alone, are important to the development of Sarawak. This is the basis for our Anak Sarawak Journalism Award; to recognise the media who have made a difference to the sector here in this state,” she added.

For the Business Events Journalism Excellence — Print/Online and Business Events Journalism Excellence — Broadcast categories, award winners will receive a grant of RM10,000 for marketing and training support, extensive profile exposure and will be commemorated at the Business Events Tribal Meet (TriBE) 2018 in August.

The winner of the 8th Anak Sarawak Journalism Award in 2016, S. Puvaneswary who is the Editor of TTG Asia Media Pte Ltd, provided valuable insights and explained why she highlighted the state’s Business Events sector.

“I saw the hard work put in to brand the destination. Many meeting planners and incentive houses had little idea of what the state had to offer. I believe this has changed.

“Business events organisers are excited to try a fresh destination which they haven’t been to before. Sarawak has many stories to tell, and great storytellers always excite journalists who are always on the lookout for exciting news,” said Puvaneswary.

She further encouraged fellow journalists to maximise the platform that Anak Sarawak Awards provides, especially in publishing articles on Sarawak, as the destination carries weight and has its own unique charm.
