KUCHING, Nov 2: The almost completed Selangau flyover or interchange under the WPC08 package of the Pan Borneo Highway project is expected to be open to traffic soon.
The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak’s Pan Borneo Highway Unit, in a social media post today, said that construction works and housekeeping are still being carried out along the stretch.
“We visited the location tonight (last night) and discovered that some motorists have entered the interchange even though plastic barricades are installed.
“It is against the law to enter a construction zone that has not been opened for public use as it is,” the Unit reminded the public.
As such, the Unit advised motorists and the public not to enter the job site without authorisation as they will be exposed to hazard and risk, as well as to prevent any untoward incidents.
On Oct 26, caretaker Senior Minister of Works Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof has informed that the Selangau and Pantu sections of the Pan Borneo Highway will be opened for public use by November this year.
The Selangau flyover is part of a 64km length of road from Pantu junction to Selangau.
The construction works, according to a report by Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak in 2019, involved 14 bridges, Selangau interchange and one rest and service area in Sungai Basai.
Works also covered the upgrading of this federal trunk road from two-lanes to a four-lane dual carriageway.
It also has 50 bus shelters and three pedestrian bridges. — DayakDaily
