KUCHING, Feb 18: Come one, come all as there will be a Chap Goh Meh 2019 Festival at India Street Pedestrian Mall on Wednesday (Feb 20).
Beginning at 8am, the festival is organised by Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) in collaboration with the Federation of Chinese Association Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Division, Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry, India Street Merchant Association, Federation of Chinese Primary School Boards of Kuching Samarahan Serian Divisions, Plaza Merdeka Management Sdn Bhd, The Waterfront Hotel, Persekutuan Kebajikan Perniagaan India Muslim and Kuching Old Market Community Association.
Themed ‘A celebration of prosperity in diversity’, the festival would be officiated at by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg together with his wife, Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, in the evening, according to a DBKU press release.
Among the activities planned are lion dances and dragon dance, 24 season drums, Chinese traditional orchestra performance, primary schools’ multicultural shows, firecrackers display, mandarin oranges throwing ceremony, ethnic groups presentations, mural launching and lantern displays.
